Costumes

While Stevey and I were in San Francisco, Zoie decided she wanted to be Redeye Greentree frog this year for Halloween (easy enough, ha) so we started keeping our eyes open for any ideas.

One night while we were browsing the web we found this site that sold full body suits in every color you can think of and we had our idea how to make this thing work.

We ordered a small lime green suit for her and while we were at it decided to order two more for mom and dad (since they were on sale) to use for those special occasions when a full body black body suit is needed.

Final result. We turned the suit backwards, kept her face open because at school and church masks aren't allowed and wallah, Red eye Green Tree frog.

For a Father/Daughter Activity Day activity several days before Halloween and before the frog markings were put into place, she was an alien that got captured in Area 51 by this US military stud who wasn't going to put up with any Alien mischief under his watch....he meant business.

Some strange man in the house....oh wait, that's me....mom...woman...go figure or better yet, nice masculine figure.

Stevey on Halloween night answering the door. One neighbor suggested he wear this to Stake Conference the next morning....he chose his other black suit instead.

Canning

I'ts my first time canning. I am making apple sauce and apple pie filling. I think it will be the last time do canning again. I think canning is what caused the Feminist movement back in the 70's and why women left to work outside the home in the 80's. In my opinion, canning IS that bad.

Corn Maze

There is a really cool looking Corn Maze visible from the I15 in the Shelly Idaho area that we saw last week and we just knew we had to visit the place very soon.

After school on Friday we snatched the kids and made our way down to the Adventure Corn Maze for a fun fill Friday evening with warm hot-dogs in the belly to keep us happy. We arrived about 4pm only to discover that the place didn't open until 6pm. By Divine intervention the Farmer of the corn maze showed up about15 minutes later and let us start our adventure early. I guess he recognized the National Lampoons Vacation dejection look on our faces, and showed great mercy....bless him.

There was about 8 miles of Maze that we could enjoy and the little girls enjoyed about 1 miles worth. The farmer, being the inspired man that he is, had a huge tractor tire tower with slide ready for little kids to play on and a long tractor pulled train ride. The little girls LOVED this....especially Clover. There was hay-bails everywhere, yummy concessions to eat, and tons of wide open space for the kids to unwinde with. We had a lot of fun.

Thanks Debbie

A friend of mine shared some delicious cookies with me the other day and I just had to have the recipe after tasting them. I got even more excited over them when I discovered how SIMPLE they are to make.

1 box German Chocolate Cake Mix
1 egg
1/2 C Butter softened
1 bag Rolo candy

Mix the cake mix, egg, and butter until thick dough forms. Roll little cookie balls around individual Rolo pieces (just bigger than each Rolo). Bake for 9ish minutes in a 350 oven...don't over bake. *I used my small sized Pampered Chef scoop and then pressed the cookie piece in the center before putting it on the pan.

These cookies are best, in my opinion, once completely cooled so the melted caramel from the candy pieces is chewy vs gooey from being hot from the oven.

Enjoy!!

Laundry

How many times in a month can you walk into the laundry room only to discover that there is a load of laundry in the washing machine rotting away and for the life of you, you can't remember when you started the load?

Answer coming soon.

San Francisco

San Francisco was a treat!

Stevey and I stayed in the Omni luxury hotel for a whole week, alone....no children..... together....just us.....sorta like newly weds.....lone man and woman...etc.

I missed the kids on day 2. Life is definitely more rich and exciting with children to share it with, but this alone time was good too.

Our first night in town we drove down the coast to watch the sunset on Stinson Beach....very romantic and loved it. We ate a late dinner at a local dive where I think they just nuked my pork chop...mmmmm!

On the second night we went down to the Fisherman's Warf and Pier 39 to see Alcatraz, the sea lions, and EVERYTHING else cool and exciting down the on the bay. LOVED this!

We ate sandwiches on delicious sourdough bread and ate soup from delicious sourdough bread bowls at the famous Boudin Bakery.

On one of the days we saw this Ferrari car and Stevey needed a picture of it....not sure why...(jk)

This is at the Rainforest Cafe where we got a bunch of souvenirs for the kids.

China Town. I am a sucker for China Town.

Oakland Temple.

Driving home on Saturday we detoured through Lake Tahoe and on our way in we passed Squaw Valley where the 1960 winter Olympics were held.

Lake Tahoe.

To sum things up, we did a lot of shopping and site seeing , but we were so sick of carrying the camera around that we didn't get too many pictures. The Friday evening before we came home, we went back to the bay, Pier 39 area and then walked back to the hotel....that was the best.
