Retirement Home Entertainment
At the first of June, Clover will have her first dance recital and we can't wait. The other day, Miss Kourtney the dance teacher, asked if the little dancers could have a practice run for the recital at a local retirement home where her own grandmother lives....isn't this the best idea ever.
The girls did three dances and were SO PRECIOUS and the elderly residence LOVED them as you could imagine. Clover loved performing for the grandma's and grandpa's and they made her feel so special.
The blue outfits were for the Mermaid song.

5th Grade Science Project
This was officially our first science project.
Zoie and her friend Annie did this science project together....The Petri Dish Experiment. Their Hypothesis was that the school computer lab keyboards would have the most bacteria and then took nine other samples around the school to see if that was correct. They sampled; the office telephone, water fountain button, after school hand, monkey bars, keyboards, gym floor, door knob, library book, girls bathroom knob.
They let the samples grow and documented daily growth for at least five days and found that the gym floor had the most germs and growth. They worked so hard and did such a great job. We (the moms and families) were very proud of them.
*These petri dishes with the bacterial growth were SO sickening and STINKY! I personally never smelt them because I have a natural response to grossness. If something looks gross I mouth breath through clenched teeth (as not to then taste the stinkyness). Everyone else testified of the stench and I believe it.

Countdown to Summer
School is about to end for Summer break and we have been having a lot of fun around here.
First: Zoie, Annie, Lindy, Ashlie, and Bailey tried out for the Talent Show with their comedy skits and made it. They got a lot of laughs and it was great to see some thing so original and fun.
Second: Pack Meeting was great. The scouts did several 'minute to win it games' and Dalton had this one. He needed to bounce a pencil off of it eraser and have it land in the cup...repeat three times...winner!
Third: Sunny was looking for some sunshine and ready for a swim. The rain sufficed.
Fourth: Clover's new thing is The Thing or as she likes to call it The Chick. She looks like a little chicken when she puts on her sweatshirt this way.

GO DALTON!!!
This is Dalton. Check out his climing skills! I wasn't here,
but when I got home from a birthday party(this is Zoie)
Dalton was grumpy. I asked him why he was grumpy and
he said that he was mad at mom for "making'' him climb
these trees that he didn't want to climb.

Some Park Time
Some extreme swinging...they actually liked it. The mother in black of all things is Clovers ballet teacher, Miss Kourtney.

"The Flying Ballerina"
The Spring Ballet recital was called the "Flying Ballerina" based on the story of "Dumbo". You couldn't exactly have an elephant flying around the stage so the story was changed into a flying ballerina.
Zoie was the Ring Master. For her solo she had to do a a pirouette and two forte turns together. Imagine her elation as she NAILED it and actually had the audience gasp and awe at her accomplishment. Her mother (me) spontaneously started to cry while giving a high five to my husband!
Zoie, Caitlin, and Kenna danced their finally together and it was beautiful. They danced with confidence, joy and beauty. Ballet is such a beautiful art.
As the Ring Master it was Zoie's job to lead in the elephants (three and four year olds). When she ushered them all out the audience it was a crowd pleaser....they were SO adorable.
Miss Kristen and a real ballerina herself previously danced with Ballet West. We have loved her and are very sad to have her retire from teaching for now. It has been such a joy to work with her and have her instill in our "petite ballerina" a love for the dance.

Spring Break 2010
This face sums up this past Spring Break for me.
We did a lot of fun things and saw all of the family, but doing it alone (husband had to work and couldn't come with) was no fun at all.

Pinewood Derby
Dalton had is first official Pine wood Derby back in March. He took 3rd or 4th over all and he won the "shiniest paint job" award.
Dalton and his dad had so much fun doing this that Stevey is planning an Elders Quorum Extreme Pine-wood Derby...oh and by the way, Stevey went in with his buddy and purchased their own Pine-wood derby track....pah'leeeze. The poor wife has the track set up in the house and it runs through the kitchen, dining and living room.
